Internship – August 2016 (4 weeks)

We’re currently seeking ambitious individuals to join our small team of print professionals at our Hertfordshire offices.

This year, we took the business to the next level, pushing for increasing market share and offering the fastest turnaround in the UK, including same and next day delivery across a large majority of our 35,000 products. We’re a dynamic company, constantly evolving and adding new products or services to our offering, including signage installation, vehicle signage, canvases and much more.

We are looking for a strong team player, capable of coping under stress with last minute orders, working closely with suppliers, customers and third parties to ensure we remain at the forefront of the industry. We need someone with fresh ideas who is motivated by the chance to be rewarded for their ideas in a thriving workplace. Experience isn’t completely necessary but there are 3m possible combinations when it comes to our product range so you’ll need to be able to pick up new things quickly and think on your feet when working with customers.

This internship is ideal for a student looking to enhance their career prospects with industry experience, gaining valuable skills along the way, both practical and clerical as well as helping be a part of one of the fastest growing printing companies the UK has to offer.

What can I expect day to day?

In reality, we’re a 24/7 company, whether it’s talking a client through artwork guidelines at 10pm or processing orders at 7am for delivery the same day. This opportunity will be flexible but we would like someone who is able to work 9-5 or 10-4 depending on other commitments. It’s up to you as to how much experience you want to acquire. We’re growing day to day with several brands within the Citiprint group so there’s plenty of opportunity to find the sector you’re interested in and channel your focus into that area.

This position is unpaid, with lunch, beanbag and parking space provided with the odd BBQ. There is possibility for paid work at the end of this placement.

Our offices are in Welham Green, Hertfordshire, accessible by train, bus, bike and car.

Pokémon Go hits the UK – We’ve launched the PokéKit!

If you’ve not heard about Pokémon Go in the past week, quite frankly where have you been? The revival of the classic and hugely successful 90s game has now hit smartphones and is taking the world by storm, recapturing the childhood memories of those who played it originally and inviting a new wave of users in the smartphone generation. You may be thinking, what does this have to do with printing or my business?

What is it?

Well, the game uses real world maps – users have to physically travel to locations to collect Pokémon characters, many of these locations are shops, museums, churches and restaurants – all programmed into the map by the game’s developers. This means increased footfall for your business which you can capitalise on easily!

How does it work?

Those playing the smartphone game use GPS to find 151 characters, all spread out across the UK at the locations we just spoke about. There’s been a huge influx of people playing the game of all ages.

What’s the PokéKit?

If you’re one of the lucky businesses to be listed as a Pokestop, this is just the start – business owners in America have already reported non stop customers, a constant flow of new business and footfall – perfect for converting to sales. We’ve put together a bundle of posters, signs and loyalty cards promoting your Pokéstop ready for next day delivery. We’ll brand the kits with your logo and address or special offer.

The game also has a brilliant feature called ‘Lure Modules’. Buying this places a rare Pokemon at your business for half an hour at a time meaning players nearby can see in influx of Pokémon on their map and so rush to your business to catch them!

L’iniozio,an Italian restaurant based in New York purchased $10 worth of Pokécoins which they converted into a Lure bringing a dozen Pokémon on site. They reported a 75% increase of sales as trainers bought a beer and played the game until their battle was over.

Activating the Lure Module during peak times such as weekends and evenings will enhance their effectiveness bringing more budding trainers to your doorstep.

Citiprint teams up with Lotus for Goodwood Festival of Speed

The Festival of Speed is a world renowned event on the automotive calendar – bringing petrolheads, celebrities, racing driver legends and one of the best mixes of cars you could ever see in one place. The UK government just spent £6m on Flyers!

Yesterday it was announced that David Cameron was spending a total of £10m on a last ditched campaign to remain in the EU when the referendum comes up in a few months. Of this amount, £5.9m was spent on printing flyers to be distributed to UK homes, over 27m brochures in total.

Now, we always like to be different and decided to quote this ourselves today, the cost… £2.1m, saving the British taxpayer nearly £4m!

Showcase: Clubbercise

It’s not too often you can have a night out and not have a hangover the next day. That is unless you know about Clubbercise with Lucy.

We caught up with Lucy, a dance fitness instructor for Clubbercise to find out a bit more and why print is important to growing her class.

Tell us a bit about Clubbercise – why did you start it and how?

I started Clubbercise in 2014 after completing my Level 2 exercise to music fitness exam. I decided to start my own fitness class as I enjoy working out and love teaching.

Do you have regular members or more new business?

I have regular customers that attend every week.

Do you find printing a neccesity to your business?

Yes, I use the printing as my main advertisement, handing leaflets to businesses and through doors, for my business cards and loyalty cards.

What’s the most important thing for you when ordering printing?

It’s got to draw people in and have the correct info.

Bringing your logo to life

Introducing our new product, the Living Logo.

We’ve already had some great response on this product and it’s easy to see why. The Living Logo is a hollowed out sign with natural moss filling the cavities. The product has a bio-friendly fluid in replacement of sap, meaning the plant won’t grow and doesn’t need any attention.

3 times we’ve saved the day

At Citiprint, we regularly receive and complete last minute printing requests for rush events, meetings or prior to travel. We always manage to deliver on time and have done so for the past 4 years with no trouble.

Here’s some recent examples of us saving the day:

  1. We had a client from Australia call on a Friday evening needing an exhibition stand, business cards and banners ready for their exhibition in London on Tuesday. By 9am Monday morning, their stand was completely set up, before they’d even landed in the country. The event went very well and we then stored their displays until they returned for another show later in the year. That’s just over 48 hours to design, print, deliver and install a whole exhibition stand.
  2. A retailer had an inspection from head office and needed some new signage urgently. We fulfilled the job, printing and installing the graphics within 24 hours of receiving the job.
  3. A lead recently came to us looking to order 50,000 labels for ice cream tubs. They’d been quoted by another printer but that company hadn’t quoted for adhesive labels suitable for freezing temperatures. The result? We printed labels suitable for -20c.

Signage for McLaren Ascot

We were called recently by McLaren to print and install graphics at their new multi million pound showroom in Ascot. The state of the art showroom and workshop has glass panels running along the perimeter to house the approved use models or ‘Qualified’ as they’re also known.

Citiprint were tasked with designing, printing and installing the graphics within a 48 hour period from call to completion. Despite the hot weather and large volume of people in the area for Royal Ascot, we completed the job in a few hours and have received great feedback since.

McLaren also trusted us with POS material and outdoor banners for other events.
